I just saw the gamechanger a day or so ago in wireless electric charging by harmonic frequencies (MIT guy) and then saw how Nissan is alresdy incorporating it into their 2010 rollout of electric vehicles. It's wireless electric charging. This technology can be put into intersecections of roadways as well as merging tech with the company doing research on the kinetic energy from the wheels hitting the road to use as electricity.

The future is plugless electrical charging and cheap energy!

David,

Nice read. I would like to point out, however that by 2015 most new vehicles running will/should be electric or will be running ice engines on converted biofuels and we won't need refueling stations, or the need to switch to hydrogen because our electric should be fueled by that time by a mix of kinetic energy drawn from the intersections and streets in cities (later by 2020). I also believe that solar will be efficient by then and cheap also to put on parking stalls in apartment complexes besides the fact that battery storage by then should be 600+ miles to a charge while continually being charged by solar and other means.

I think the future is going to be increasingly difficult to predict since the internet has smashed the world down to a size where everyone is learning faster and smarter as technology is growing faster and faster. I don't think the fed govt needs to be rushing out, to come up with solutions we haven't fully figured out the problems to just yet. I say wait a couple years before we waste too much more money we don't have now.

Cheers, VM
