What you left out is the American companies are as much to blame as the Chinese ones. Case in point: Mattel Toy Company put out a recall notice saying they they are taking steps to make sure that will not happen again. What Mattel should have been doing while they were pressuring the Chinese companies to cut costs is to have enough oversight and on site inspections to make sure that is not happening in the first place.

Also, China is new at the global markets and there is bound to be mistakes and dishonest businesses practices. The USA has had years to get its ducks in order, yet we still screw up, like in a most egregious form, Enron.

Finally, the official that was put to death was not because of corruption, it was that he approved drugs that he knew were dangerous, even deadly which resulted in death to some. I'd venture to guess if that was the case in the USA, we'd hand down a death sentence as well.

Peace

Stuart-

If you like to invest in U.S. companies, look to the ones that have great intellectual property. The future of the U.S as the global economy gets integrated is in the areas of intellectual property, intellectual capital and continuing to be the innovation engine of the world.
We do not need to lead the world in manufacturing to lead the world economically.

David,

Thank you as always for your perspective above.

I would like to hear more about U.S. manufacturing and what it needs to do going forward into the future? Who might be an example of planning for the future? I like to invest in U.S. companies.
